Last month’s newsletter used “that you and I may be encouraged by each other’s faith” Romans 1:12- Cartoon. What does it mean to encourage someone?
By definition encouragement is, to inspire with courage, spirit or hope. To uplift, spur on or give help or hope. Comfort – Give strengthening aid to or console in a time of trouble or worry.
Have you been the receiver of encouragement? Have you given encouragement?
For the process of encouraging someone like family, friends, coworkers or even maybe a stranger, a person has to reach out to another person. This outreach can come in many forms like a smile, a hug, kind words, sharing, understanding, prayer or just simply sitting quietly with them. Whatever the form or action of Encouragement it should be sincere. The support we experience during the time of troubles is very important, a special bond.
As Christians we rely on God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We put our trust in the Word of God which he has given us in the form of the Bible. The Bible shows us the way.
Believing is the key that leads us to faith, faith to hope and hope to peace.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11: 1
In our time of troubles, we may not see with our physical eyes or even in our mind the reason for things that happen but by looking with our spiritual eyes we can find peace.
