Blue Mound UMC June 2026

Happy Father’s Day!

You’re the Grill Deal… also the reason we own three different kinds of barbecue tongs.

“When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant, I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” —Mark Twain

“A father carries pictures where his money used to be.” – Steve Martin

“He was there when I didn’t understand, he was there when I was wrong, he was there when I cried, he was there when I lied. For some reason my dad was always there, when I needed him the most.” – Michael Jordan

“Never is a man more of a man than when he is the father of a newborn.” – Matthew McConaughey

“I’ve jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium, but none of it means anything compared to being somebody’s daddy.” – Chris Pratt

“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.” – Billy Graham

Pastor’s Corner

What a joy it has been to serve as your pastor for the last five months! You have all been so gracious, loving and supportive and I will always treasure my time here at Blue Mound. I meant what I said in a previous sermon, “Blue Mound may be a small church but I’ve learned the people who call this church “home” have huge hearts!” I will be eager to hear how Blue Mound is moving forward in its call to love God and serve others!

Part of my job as I wrap up my interim at Blue Mound is to help prepare the church to receive a new pastor coming in July. I am praying for you and for the pastor God is bringing to you. During June you’ll all be asked to pray over a holding cross that I’ve used while preaching every Sunday. Your SPRC Chair, Ken Dodd will then be asked to present it to your new preacher. It’s important they know you’ve been praying for them and are prepared to receive their ministry and are eager to join with them in work of advancing God’s kingdom on Earth.

During the month of June we’ll embark on a summer worship series titled, “Road Trip Playlist: Psalms for The Whole Journey.” My intent is that this is a worship series you can drop into as you are able, whether here at church, streaming from home or traveling abroad. We’ll be looking at four of the Psalms and immersing ourselves in the wisdom and grace they offer. Whether vacation of staycation, having the right playlist can make all the difference in the world! I look forward to seeing you in worship!

ALSO, A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO OUR MAY FOOD DRIVE! YOUR GENEROSITY WILL BLESS THOSE WHO TRULY NEED TO BE BLESSED.

Grace and peace, Pastor Don
