The Family of God

By Bill Gaither

For I’m part of the family
The family of God

You will notice we say brother
And sister ’round here
It’s because we’re a family
And these folks are so near
When one has a heartache
We all share the tears
And rejoice in each victory
In this family so dear

I’m so glad I’m a part
Of the family of God
I’ve been washed in the fountain
Cleansed by His blood
Joint heirs with Jesus
As we travel this sod
For I’m part of the family
The family of God

Dear member(s):

I have been with you now for seven weeks, and our eight Sunday together is quickly approaching us. I’m enjoying getting to know you and becoming a partner with you for a vital ministry to our members and community at large.

In a few days we will welcome September, sometimes known as Back-to- Month. September is when many go back to school and back to work. Some finish vacation and get back to the ministry of the church.  At Blue Mound UMC, we will shift to a higher gear as we get back to full force by reenergizing things in place and creating some new ministries. As an example, we will continue our Tuesday morning 10:00 am Bible Study Class for those who like to or must meet during the day. We will also kick off a new Bible Study Class on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00 pm. Twenty-two people have registered fort our inaugural class. During this month, our leaders will meet to plan and pray for vital ministries for our members and community.  I’m in the process of planning a sermon series on Kingdom Living. As a church we have some great ministries in place. However, we are not standing still, thus, we will energize those vital ministries already in place and introduce new opportunities for ministries and our members participation.

I continue to learn your names, smiles and your passion for Jesus and his kingdom on earth. As his disciples, we are to be about kingdom living and advancing the kingdom of God on earth.  Kingdom living and your partnership for advancing the kingdom of God on earth is my hope for a better world.

I’ll see you this Sunday as we worship and praise God.

Joyfully, Ronald D. Henderson

When I was looking in the Blue Mound Cookbook for my mother’s “Lemon Cup” recipe. I came across Shirley Haisler’s great recipe for “Cherry Winks” cookies. They are so good. The memories came flooding back about Shirley making them at Christmas and sending to Thomas Trietsch, her brother, who was in the army stationed in Germany in 1958.

Shirley is very active in the church, on many committees at Blue Mound and plays the piano for worship services. Shirley is considered one of the backbones of the Church. Her family was one of the founding families of Blue Mound Church and this Denton area. The farm she was raised on has been in continuous farming operation by the Tritsch family for over 125 years. She maintains the History of Blue Mound Church in the books on display in the Fellowship Hall.   *Submitted by Kay Trietsch
