The 3 R’s
The other day I was thinking about the 3 R’s from my school days. Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic – One thing led to another so…
I thought of 3 R’s in the Bible. Repent, Redemption, Resurrection.
Repent/Repentance is defined as: 1) to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to a change in your life. 2) to feel sorrow or regret for a short coming- to feel humble or regretful sorrow for offenses.
In Ezekiel 18, he preached to the Israelites to turn from their offensive ways, then sin will not be your downfall- Repent and Live
Matthew 4:17 “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Redeem/Redeemer/Redemption =1) to get or win back 2) to free from captivity by payment of ransom 3) to release from blame or debt 4) to remove the obligation of payment
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us….” Ephesians 1:7-8
Hebrews 7 tells us, “He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”
Resurrection = 1) to rise again 2) to raise from the dead – Christ rising from the dead and 3) to bring into view, attention – to rise to new life. (Born Again)
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die: and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
