Pastor Buster and his wife, Janet, will come to be a part of the Blue Mound family starting July 1st of this year, and we are eager to share life and ministry alongside them!
Hi, I’m Buster Noah. I grew up in Farmers Branch, Texas, son to Odell and Lois Noah and brother to Loye Dell who is five years older. My parents’ house was in the part of Farmers Branch where I went to Dallas ISD schools, graduating from WT White High School.
I met my wife, Janet, while attending classes at UT Dallas in Richardson. Janet and I were both Math majors, so we had a lot of classes together. We were married in 1988, so we’ve been married for 33 years now. We have no children but currently have one cat named Tumi.
After graduating from UT Dallas with my degree in Mathematics, I went to work for Computer Language Research-FASTTAX in Addison, where we translated tax code into computer programs to produce tax returns. From FASTTAX I went to work for Atmos Energy Corporation when they moved their headquarters from Amarillo to Dallas.
From Atmos I went to work for The Associates in Las Colinas, a global financial services company.
It was while I was at The Associates that I felt a tugging in my heart from God. We began going to Lovers Lane UMC in Dallas, and it was there that I found my home. I gave my life to Christ and was baptized on Palm Sunday. Within a couple of years of being at Lovers Lane I sensed God calling me to ministry and began seminary at Perkins School of Theology at SMU.
While at Perkins I served Lovers Lane as a part-time student pastor. Upon graduation I served part-time as senior pastor of St Luke’s UMC at Love Field. Then I went on to Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound where I served full-time as an associate pastor. From there I went to Justin UMC where I served as senior pastor for nine years. And I’ve served the past seven years as senior pastor of Asbury UMC in Denton.
While I was at Lovers Lane, I volunteered at Trinity River Mission where I tutored children in reading English. While at Trietsch I got involved in the Denton Area Emmaus Community and served on many walks. While at Justin I helped to expand their local food bank. Also, while I was at Justin I found a love for the Epiphany community at the Gainesville State School and served on many weekends with that great team. At Asbury I’ve volunteered at a local elementary school reading to children, and we’ve continued our food pantry, toy store, and Mother’s Day Out and COMPASS Enrichment Program.
I love Jesus Christ and I love the United Methodist Church where I have served now for twenty-three blessed years. My hope is to serve for many more years with a loving church family where I will be blessed to continue to preach the gospel and love the people. (Oh, and I’m a big Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys fan!)
To God be the glory!
Buster
